Untitled Page

Allan has been instructing dance in Manitoba since April of 1988. His 18 years of experience began with his formal training at Ken Mathews School of Dance where he taught for over 6 years.

With the love of dance in his blood he, in addition to Ken Mathews School of Dance, began teaching his own clientele in 1993 at Creative Rhythms Dance Studio on a part time basis. Soon his part time clientele became full time and he left Ken Mathews Dance School to teach at Creative Rhythms over the next 5 years.

In 1994 Allan put together a performance group, The Desert Range Dance Company, which still today, performs in Winnipeg and rural Manitoba as the Desert Range Dancers. Allan choreographs each performance.

After 11 years of teaching with other studios, in 1997 Allan made the decision to open his own studio and Nelson's Ballroom and Country Dance Studio made its debut. His studios have grown in size over the last 9 years and he now has a beautiful 2000 sq. ft. hardwood dance floor in his 4000 sq. ft. space.

In addition to in studio teaching, Allan also does out calls and out of studio teaching. He has been teaching the Westview Dance Club since the fall of 2001 where he teaches ballroom dancing and choreographs monthly routines.

In the summer of 2003, Allan received a special call from the head of casting for the movie Shall We Dance. He played a featured extra in the movie as a dance instructor and co-worker at the studio where Jennifer Lopez was also a teacher and Richard Gere, her student.

Over the years Allan has built a reputation of being one of the best ballroom dance teachers in central Canada . His attention to technique has made him a favorite for beginner students and advance dancers alike. Many of the dance teachers in Winnipeg started out as his students and still work with today.

Allan has taken many students through their hard work and dedication to competition and has earned such awards as:
